Sivakarthikeyan, Keerthy, Samuthirakani, Rajkiran
Rajini Murugan is a tailor made festival film, which is sure to enthrall and entertain the masses.
The film's director Ponram (Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam) has packaged the film in such a way that audiences will leave the movie hall with a big smile and forget all their worries. Thanks to the brilliant chemistry between the comedy-duo Sivakarthikeyan and Soori, the film is a laugh riot which holds no pretensions.
Rajini Murugan(Sivakarthikeyan) is a happy-go-lucky guy, whose only job is to take care of his grandfather (Rajkiran), a respectable man in Goripalayam and roams around with close friend Thothathri(Soori). He is madly in love with Karthika Devi (Keerthi), daughter of his uncle, who is no longer in good terms with the family.
Rajkiran's one and only aim in life before he dies is to meet all his family members, who are settled abroad, sell his ancestral house and give everyone their share. In order to bring all the family members to Goripalayam Rajkiran and Rajini Murugan sketches a plan. When everything goes well, they earn the wrath of Ezharai Mookan (Samuthirakani), a local gunda who extorts money from innocent people.
At one point of time, Ezharai Mookan alleges that he is a grandson of Rajkiran and claims that he too has a share in the property. How Rajini Murugan and Rajkiran take on the cunning Ezharai Mookan and pins him down? Watch out on the big screen...
Rajini Murugan's biggest strength is the comical feast of Sivakarthikeyan and Soori, which ensures to entertain at regular intervals. On the other end, the film is tad too lengthy with plenty of songs and an urgent trimming would make it more entertaining.
Performance wise, Sivakarthikeyan proves once again that he is a rock star who can single handedly carry the film with his high energy level and charm. Be it dance, fight or comedy, the actor has proved that he is a quintessential entertainer. Soori brings the roof down with his rib tickling comic one-liners.
Keerthy Suresh looks fresh and super cute. She has everything going for her to become the next homely girl of K-town. Samuthirakani is another big asset for the movie, his uncanny villainy act and Rajkiran is in top form.
Inman's songs are all foot tapping and his BGM is super catchy. Cinematographer has Balasubramaniem captured Madurai and surrounding locales in vivid colors.
Overall, Rajini Murugan is a perfect family entertainer for this Pongal.
