Movie Title

Samagama

Director

Kasthuri Jagannath

Star Cast

Vishranth, Vidya, Susheel, Ramakrishna, Manjunath Hegde

This usual run of the mill story on love and friendship suffers from bad casting and presentation.

The mainstay of this film is the Mallu girl Vidya. There are just two songs well scored by director Prasad in this Rs.1.5 crore budgeted poorly made film. The absence of both genuine talent and a lovable face in Vishranth pull down ?Samagama? to a much lower scale that is worth for a television serial.

Jayanth and Nandini (Vishranth and Vidhya) are son and daughter of close pals Devu and Srinivas (Ramakrishna and Manjunath Hegde). They are good friends which slowly transforms into love. However, Nandini has a marriage proposal from a relative to which her parents agree. Nandini is in the dark about this development while her attachment with Jayanth grows. When Jayanth?s parents come to know about the love affair, his father wants him to stop so that it does not damage his friendship with Devu. Devu even seeks Jayanths help to convince his daughter for marriage.

The director builds up the curiosity level. But he fails to give a good presentation to his screenplay keeping the audiences attention intact. Vishranth the producer?s close relative is a miscast and big disappointment. Vidya acting ability and dubbing done for her role is the plus point of this film. Veterans Ramakrishna and Manjunath Hegde (a familiar face on television) takes the cake in the acting department.

Munisu Tharave?.song penned by top writer in Kannada literature Subraya Chokkadi is well sung by Ajay Warrier and it is placed well in the film. The cinematography of Suresh Babu is pretty good.
