Shajahanum Pareekkuttiyum review-Average

Director

Boban Samuel

Star Cast

Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya, Amala Paul

Director Boban Samuel’s Shajahanum Pareekkuttiyum begins with Jiya (Amala Paul) losing her memory after a car accident.

It’s some kind of a convenient memory loss, just enough to create a half-baked story and some laughs. Her beau Major Ravi (Aju Varghese) and her parents are in search of a person whose name starts with the letter ‘P’ from then on, with whom she was having an affair.

Major Ravi seeks the help of a private detective, played by Suraj Venjarammood, to bring out the truth.

Meanwhile two young men with names Pranav (Kunchacko Boban ) and Prince (Jayasurya) appears with their stories. Both present their own cooked up versions and one of them is a mix of Thalapathi and Titanic, as revealed by the other.

All these confusions and some one-liners, especially from Aju and Suraj, can make you laugh at times during the first half. But from then on the story wanders aimlessly in the absence of a strong plot and the going gets pretty boring.

From the script, direction to the performances of the lead cast, this one has been lazily done. In the absence of a convincing storyline, this one never engages you beyond a point. The visuals are good and the music is fine.

Amala Paul looks pretty but has nothing much to do in a badly written role. Kunchacko Boban and Jayasurya half-heartedly rush through their scenes without much involvement. The result is that their sequences barely evokes some laughter in this comedy!

Shajahanum Pareekkuttiyum tries to tickle your funny bone with some age old tricks and rehashed versions of popular dialogues but all those efforts succeed only here and there.
