Silence review: Anushka, Madhavan starrer is not impressive

Director

Hemant

Star Cast

Anushka, Madhavan, Anjali, Shalini

Silence is yet another poorly made Telugu dubbed film in this season of OTT releases. The film's director Hemant struggles from the word go despite roping in eminent actors across the industry including Hollywood's Michael Madsen.

Sakshi (Anushka Shetty) and her fiance Antony (Madhavan) visit a haunted house that is known for eerie murder that happened in the 70s. Being a gifted mute artist,  Sakshi goes into the house for a rare painting piece. However,  she gets heavily injured while Antony gets murdered in the same eerie method. Now, detectives Maha (Anjali) and Richard (Michael Madsen) should investigate the case to unearth the secrets behind the murder...

All the intelligent actors like Anushka, Madhavan, Anjali, Michael Madsen who have proved their acting prowess in the past couldn't save this sinking ship called Silence mainly due to the poorly written screenplay and dialogues. The basic one-liner is quite promising and with a watertight screenplay, this could've been an excellent whodunit thriller but now, the finished product looks halfbaked.

For Tamil and Malayalam audiences who have seen excellent thrillers in the recent past, Silence is a tiring watch and they would easily guess the next scene without big effort.

Technically too, nothing impressive about Silence, the visuals and music are strictly functional. The Tamil dubbing is also below par, wish they hired a better writer.

To conclude, Silence is yet another substandard OTT release in this pandemic.

Verdict: Below Average
