Leading multiplex chains including INOX, PVR Cinemas, and Carnival Cinemas have expressed their strong opposition to this move of the producers. The Producers Guild of India also sent out a counter-statement saying that the exhibitors' threatening statement against producers who have signed for a direct OTT release is unacceptable.
Reacting to this statement wars, SR Prabhu tweeted "OTT & Theatrical r different avenues. If at all someone to worry, it’s the nontheatrical segment. Also, film producers r the only source of content providers for theatres & these 2 are bound for life. So let’s try to survive this pandemic to start over instead of statement wars!".
