Vijay’s 50th golden jubilee film, Sura is all set for a grand release in Kerala on April 30.

It comes at a time when there is a total deadlock in the trade over new releases, and three Malayalam films which were due for release on April 30 has been postponed.

The producers of Sura Sun Pictures and the Kerala distributors of the film Thamins have decided to go ahead and release the film along with the rest of the world. The film is likely to release in 112 screens across Kerala, the biggest ever for any film in the state.

In Ernakulam Sura is releasing at Sarita, Savita, Little Shenoys and newly opened multiplex Cinemax, which means 2300 seats per show. In Thiruvananthapuram Vijay’s heartland the film is opening in three screens with the first show to start at 9.15 am. Even in small towns like Attingal, the film is releasing in two screens. Already all boxes of the film have been dispatched and digital projection has been uploaded.

Says a trade analyst: “ There is no opposition to Sura as Malayalam films like Mammootty-Prithviraj Pokkiri Raja and Sathyan Anthikad’s Jayaram-Mamta Katha Thudarunu have been postponed due to the ongoing tussle between the distributors and theatres. It is advantage Vijay as the Tamil film is sure going to take a gargantuan opening.”
