Interacting with the media in Chennai, Suriya revealed that Kaappaan was originally written for another leading actor.
"In my career, films which were originally written for other actors came to me for some reasons and eventually worked big time for me. Kaappaan was also originally written for another leading actor in 2012 but he couldn't do and finally, KV Anand approached me to play the lead role", said Suriya.
"Even now people say that Ayan is my best film. Maattrraan is also a memorable film in my career because KV Anand sees me from a different angle and brings out the best in me", added Suriya who praised Anand and another writer Pattukottai Prabhakar for giving him an author-backed role that he needn't prepare much for his role.
"Mohanlal sir made everyone's job easier, he behaved like a co-star form my generation and has now become a good friend of mine. I should thank Arya because, on the day of the shoot, we called him to London and asked whether he could act in a role which was written for someone else, he gladly agreed. Arya has a big heart", said Suriya.
"Sayyeshaa is not a regular heroine in Kaappaan, she is smart and I appreciate her effort to speak Tamil on this stage. Yes, I gave a few suggestions to both Arya and Sayyeshaa from my marriage life", laughed the actor.
Kaappaan all set to release on September 20.
