A section of social activists, journalists, and netizens say that films that glorified the brutal attack of cops in films is one of the major reasons behind the custodial deaths like the one that happened in Sathankulam. Jeyaraj and Fenix, dad and son from the Tuticorin district are said to be allegedly tortured by the cops in the prison and both of them sadly lost their lives.
Now, Suriya who played the lead in cop action thrillers like Kaakha Kaakha and Singam series took his Twitter page to say that the Sathankulam incident is nothing but an organized crime as the two cops, magistrate, and the Government doctor have tried to cover the murder.
"I personally know cops who work day and night to protect people. Even during the pandemic, they put their heart and soul to save the people. But we also have cops who misuse their power and position to torture the general public. Our system should rightly punish all those to tried to cover the crime to restore people's faith in law and order", said Suriya in his statement.
Suriya also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Jeyaran and Fenix's family.
