In a recent interview, stylish filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon revealed that he initially approached Suriya to play the lead in Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha. But the actor had long back signed KV Anand's Kaappaan in which he played the personal bodyguard to India's Prime Minister. In Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha, the protagonist is a bodyguard to a rich entrepreneur.
Due to the similarity in these two characters, Suriya politely declined Gautham Menon's offer. But the filmmaker has now developed a romantic drama for Suriya set in London and if all goes well, they are likely to join hands in 2021.
Suriya and Gautham had worked together in Kaakha Kaakha and Vaaranam Aayiram, the two classic films in Tamil cinema. They were also supposed to work together in Dhruva Natchathiram but due to creative differences, Vikram replaced Suriya.
