Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam review: A cute little gem

Senna Hegde

Star Cast

Manoj K U, Anagha Narayanan

It’s not often that you come across movies that completely blow you away with its innate honesty and genuine storytelling. Director Senna Hegde’s Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam is one such movie that will entertain the viewers from start to finish.

The story is set in Kanhangad, where the freshness of the land, the cute slang, and their mannerisms give us a remarkable feel.

Kuwait Vijayan (Manoj K U) and his family is getting ready for the engagement of his second daughter Suja (Anagha Narayanan). Vijayan hasn’t come to terms with the fact that his elder daughter Surabhi married a KSRTC bus conductor, against his plans of tying the knot with her cousin, a bank manager.

But things take an unexpected turn as Suja is in love with a local youth named Ratheesh.

The whole story happens in a span of a couple of days at Vijayan’s home. The relatives who are there for the function and the workers who are there to arrange it all have all importance here.

With a packed script, Senna Hegde adds the delicious flavor of northern Kerala and as a result, the characters look real and extremely relatable. The director in fact makes the viewer a part of the whole proceedings as the household get ready for the engagement ceremony and we feel like it’s all happening around us. The visuals and the music suits the mood.

The performers are all fresh faces and that has worked to the advantage of the movie in a big way. Almost all the characters have relevance and importance, regardless of their screen time and the actors do their parts with sincerity and competence.

Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam is in a way, a humorous take on certain attitudes of our society. This is one of those movies that make us feel like, continue watching it, even as the end titles start rolling. The movie is now streaming on Sony LIV. Don’t miss it!

Verdict: Entertaining
