Thrissivaperoor Kliptham review:Disappointing

Ratheish Kumar

Star Cast

Asif Ali, Chemban Vinod Jose, Aparna Balamurali

If you are not bored by now hearing the Thrissur slang used as the only attraction to substitute an otherwise ineffective storyline, here is another to the list, Thrissivaperoor Kliptham, directed by Ratheish Kumar.

With a weak plot, where the hero Girijavallabhan (Asif Ali) has nothing much to do, the attempt is to make it all entertaining with some funny sequences. And the problem is the extent to which the makers go to tickle your funny bone.

If jokes about poop and sex are enough to entertain you, there are many of the kind here.

Davy (Chemban Vinod Jose) and Chembadan Joy (Baburaj) leads rival gangs in Thrissur. They were classmates who fell for the same girl during their schooldays. The rivalry has continued and a major portion of the film is about this feud.

Then there is a sexy siren who is paid to inaugurate Joy’s new jewelry showroom. And also there is a fiery auto driver named Bhagya (Aparna Balamurali), who imitates Bhavana in her accent and Manju Warrier’s Kanmadam act for the expressions.

Scripted by P S Rafeeque of Amen fame, this one tries a bit too hard to be like the fantastic Amen. But the writing and the presentation doesn’t even make it a bargain basement version.

It’s a surprise how Asif Ali was convinced to do a role that is usually done by sidekicks to the heroes. Aparna Balamurali hams it up in a big way. In fact, it is Chemban Vinod Jose who carries the film ahead with an impressive show. Baburaj, Dr. Ronnie, Sreejith Ravi and Irshad are also good.

Thrissivaperoor Kliptham has some moments here and there, besides a few good performances, but at times the jokes are too offensive and the lines are sexist to the core. Go for this one if all these descriptions suit your concept of an entertainer.
