Ullasa Utsaha

Devaraj Palan

Star Cast

Ganesh, Yami Gouthami, Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Doddanna

This latest movie of Ganesh was lying in the cans for several reasons. Though it was ready in January itself, the producers had to delay its release as Ganesh wanted his maiden home production Maleyali Jotheyali to hit the theatres first. After a delay of two months, Ullasa Utsaha, a remake of the hit Telugu film Ullasanga Utsahanga, has been released.

The movie has the typical ingredients of Ganesh?s film ? romance, songs and lovely locations. Unfortunately, the films offer nothing new. Ganesh?s characters have been stereotyped. In his hit film Mungaru Male, he falls for a girl who is about to be engaged. Here too, he loves a girl who is already in love with a different boy. He sacrifices his love for the girl. There are several twists and turns before a happy ending.

The director has stuck to the original story and has effected only minor changes. But the movie revolves around Ganesh and the female lead Yami Gouthami. For Ganesh, it is a tailor-made role. He excels as a lover boy as well as a love-disappointed hero. But his histrionics and mannerisms remind of his previous films. Yami Gouthami is simply superb on the screen. The on-screen chemistry between them is fantastic.

There is plenty of comedy in the film with some of the best comedians ? Sadhu Kokila, Doddanna and Rangayana Raghu ? keeping the humour alive in the plot which appears predictable from the second-half.

The music director has retained 4 tracks from the Telugu original and added 2 new tracks. Choreography by Imran Sardhariya is a highlight of the film. For those who have already watched the original is strictly off limits unless you are die-hard fan of Ganesh.
