Movie Title

Jai Krishna

Star Cast

Vijay Sethupathi, Kreshna, Sunaina

Director Jai Krishna?s Vanmham is a clich?d long and boring movie. Vijay Sethupathi sleep walks through the film while Kreshna makes a sincere attempt to make it interesting. It is packaged for the mass B & C market, with all commercial ingredients.

The story set in a small town in southern Tamil Nadu, is on true friendship between Radha (Vijay Sethupathi) and Chelladurai (Kreshna). Their friendship transcends several emotions like love, camaraderie, sacrifice and half way point they fall out. Later due to ego issues and misunderstanding it becomes hatred, but finally they get back together and finish off the villain!

It is a story that has been told from time immemorial, and there is nothing fresh in presentation or treatment. And terrible screenplay aggravates the misery. The idea of Vijay Sethupathi atoning for his mistake and looking after the murdered man?s family is etched out of Lohitadas?s Mohanlal film Kanmadam. The commercial ingredients like songs and fights are not well woven into the narration. The love angle between Kreshna and Sunaina, is not convincing and there are too many logical loopholes in the story. The songs by Thaman are nothing much to talk about.

Vijay Sethupathi most of the time is bashing somebody or other and spots a dhoti and rides a Bullet motor bike to go with his rough and tough image. Kreshna is far more relaxed, Sunaina is there for some romance and songs. Supporting cast of actors are good, especially Goli Soda fame Madhusoodan Rao.

The only silver lining is the camerawork of Bala Bharani and never seen before Kanyakumari district locations, which fit in with the milieu. Suresh Urs could have speeded up the proceedings, as it is too long. One hopes Vijay Sethupathi would be careful on his script selection.
