Four years after the disaster of Mahesh Babu?s Sainikudu in 2006, director Guna Sekhar, who goes by the honour as the ?Dynamic Director? of Tollywood is back with Varudu, an interesting film with a wafer thin story.

Sandeep (Allu Arjun), is the sort of a Mr Nice Guy, the only son of his loving parents (Ashish Vidyarthi & Suhasini). He is modern but very traditional in his outlook particularly about his marriage. Sandeep wants his marriage to be performed on the lines of Seetha Ramula Kalyanam, stretching for 16 days, including a five-day marriage ceremony. He tunes his strangely romantic mind not to chance upon the face of his bride till the last minute. His heartthrob Deepthi (Bhanushri Mehra) too reciprocates the gesture and decides that she too should not see the face of her man till the wedding!

Finally the bride and groom see each other in the wedding mandap, but Diwakar (Arya) drops into the jolly venue and take away the bride. What happens next? It forms the crux of the story.

It is a one-man show for Allu Arjun as he is there in every frame, catering to the mass and family audiences who want their dose of unpretentious masala mix. He plays the boy-next-door, sober guy and the fighting machine in the second half with equal ease. New comer Bhanu Mehra is promising with her earthy looks and adequate performance.

Tamil hero Arya steals the thunder as the bad guy and he seemed to have enjoyed doing the villain act. Senior artistes Nazer and Sayaji Shinde were routine in their roles and Brahmanandam provides the comedy. The highlight is the climax fight and the wedding scenes.

Technically, art-work (Ashok), Editing by Antony and cinematography (RD Rajashekar) are the ones that stand out. The visual effects done for marriage mandapam are impressive. Music by Manisharma is good especially ?Idu rojula pelli ..? and ?Bahusha Chenchala..? are mellifluous. The way the song ?Bahusha Chenchala..? shot is quite impressive. It is done with great aesthetic sense. Costumes created for the song are equally superb.

Verdict: Entertaining
