Movie Title

Vellimoonga

Director

Jibu Jacob

Star Cast

Biju Menon, Nikki Galrani

Cinematographer turned director Jibu Jacob?s maiden venture, ?Vellimoonga?, is based on an interesting premise.

Biju Menon plays C P Mamachan, the local leader of a north Indian party with no real roots in Kerala. He is a wily tactician, who will do anything to reap benefits. With a trusted lieutenant named Pachan (Aju Varghese) and some detractors, who incidentally belongs to the same front in the political equations, Mamachan plays the tricks of the game to his advantage.

But such tactics are not enough to make Lisa (Nikki Galrani), a girl much younger to him, impressed. She is in fact the daughter of the chronic bachelor?s childhood sweetheart. Not one to give up so easily, Mamachan tries hard to win the girl?s heart.

If you don?t think much and go without too much expectation, the film could end up as a fine entertainer. The film had the possibilities of becoming a good political satire and in the current form it?s perhaps mainly aimed at those viewers who enjoy those countless comedy skits on TV.

Jibu Jacob has packaged the film pretty fine, though with clich?s galore and also in a format that is as old as films like ?Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal?. The film could have been better with a more imaginative script and not to forget, a better title.

The best thing about the film could be an eminently likeable show from Biju Menon. He looks good and has put has done the role with all conviction. Aju Varghese proves as a genuine actor, yet again. The heroine, Nikki Galrani, looks pretty but has come up with a rather lazy show.

?Vellimoonga ?may be far from perfect but the film has some nice moments that keep you engrossed. It?s a nice fun and perhaps the best option among the recent ones.

Verdict: Entertaining
