Vizhithiru review: An average watch

Meera Kathiravan

Star Cast

Kreshna, Dhanshikaa, Vidharth, Thambi Ramiah

After Maanagaram, Vizhithiru is yet another Tamil movie with multiple characters from different walks of life come together in a single day due to various situations and one common cause.

Muthukumar (Krishna), a cab driver plans to go home but loses his wallet so takes up an offer as a call driver for the night to earn enough money. We have two small-time thieves Chandrababu (Vidharth) and Saroja (Dhanshikaa) who loot money from a wealthy man (Thambi Ramaiah). A rich youngster Vikram (Rahul Bhaskaran) decides to spend time with a pretty stranger girl Christina (Erica Fernandes) in his swanky car from Pondicherry to Chennai to impress her. Then there is an innocent visually challenged dad, who is in search for his girl daughter (Sara), who yearns for her missing dog. How their lives get connected?

Thor: Ragnarok review - Best of the three Thor films | Ribbon review: Capturing rhythms of metropolitan life | Ittefaq review: A formulaic whodunit sans intrigue | Aval review: Impressive horror thriller | PSV Garuda Vega review: A slick action thriller

Vizhithiru’s core story has the potential of a classic thriller, the characters too are interestingly written but what works against the movie is the flat execution. All the actors including Kreshna, Vidharth, Dhanshikaa, Rahul Bhaskaran, and Erica have given their best but the director weakens the fast-moving script with needless comedy in the form of Thambi Ramaiah’s character and the T Rajendar’s (item song?) cameo. Vizhithiru also lacks the pace for an edge of the seat thriller, the screenplay often gets diluted with unwanted sequences.

But Vizhithiru is not a movie to ignore, it definitely has its moments and the effort of the team is commendable. Especially, Vijay Milton and RV Saran’s cinematography catering the night lives of Chennai is top notch.

Overall, Vizhithiru is an average watch for the sincere effort of director Meera Kathiravan and the lead actors.
