9 #BlowToModi moments after he became PM
- Sunil Rajguru
From 2002-14, the headline “Blow to Modi” had become a big joke with the media trying to find anything negative no matter how miniscule in whatever Narendra Modi did. But now with 282 Lok Sabha seats in the kitty, it will be a stable BJP government for 5 years.
However, there have been many #BlowToModi moments after he became Prime Minister for his critics.
A look at some of them…
1. Bypolls: In the bypolls held in 32 seats in September, the BJP won only 12/32 seats with the SP taking 8 and the Congress getting 7. SP got more seats than the BJP in UP and this was a sign that Amit Shah’s magic had ended and Yogi Adityanath’s utterances had backfired.
There were also setbacks in Gujarat and Rajasthan and this was a sign that the Modi wave had ended.
2. Delhi poll delay: The BJP will form the government. It won’t. It’s approached the Lieutenant Governor. It’s confused. Modi is scared of polls. All sorts of headlines and speculative stories ruled the roost.
Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Chief Minister on February 14 but still nobody knows who the BJP’s CM candidate is or when polls will be held in the State.
