New Delhi: Kanhaiya Kumar, the JNU student Union President in the eye of current JNU storm, has become the new face of the Left, and is considered by many to the voice of "new India". He has certainly catapulted to the top of the political heap in a very short time. His speeches have been hailed and his every move covered by the media.

However, as Mr. Kanhaiya might be discovering, one of the major factors in politics is one's own personal history, every inch of which is generally dredged by the opposition to find indiscretions. One such crack has been bought to light by one Kamlesh Parmeshwari Kamlesh.

Sharing an incident on Facebook, Kamlesh claimed that she, an ex-JNUite at the time, once castigated Kanhaiya for urinating in public. Allegedly Kanhaiya did not take the scolding well, and got into a shouting match with her.

Among the many thing Kanhaiya is claimed to have shouted includes threats and a declaration that urinating and smoking in public was his right. The incident is claimed to have occurred in June, 2015.

She then filed a complaint with the JNU Proctor, following all proper procedures.

As per an office order numbered 77/CP/2015 and dated October 16, 2015, the Proctor found Mr. Kanhaiya guilty of 'misbehaving with an Ex-student (Female)' and fined him Rs. 3000.

Parts of the order state -

"This act of Mr. Kanhaiya Kumar is serious in nature, unbecoming of a student of JNU and calls for strict disciplinary action against him."

In a press release dated March 10, 2016, the JNU Public Relations Office confirmed that the statement, and the fine, were real.

The latest incident has special bearing, since Kanhaiya has often made references to the dignity of women in his various speeches.
