Lucknow: Days after the alleged murder of a journalist in Uttar Pradesh, the state’s Horticulture Minister Parasnath Yadav has reacted and stirred a controversy by saying, ‘You can’t fight nature.'

The insensitive remark comes at a time when there is widespread anger over the case, in which Samajwadi Party leader Ram Murti Verma is a suspect.

“There are some incidents that happen in the course of nature and destiny,” he said.

Shahjahanpur-based journalist Jagendra Singh died last week as he was allegedly burnt alive for a Facebook post against Ram Murti.

According to reports, Singh suffered critical burn injuries during a police raid on June 1 and died in Civil Hospital in Lucknow.

Ram Murti Verma, the minister for Backward Classes Welfare, has been missing since he was named in the FIR.
