: The BJP core group meeting is to be held today at the residence of former CM Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai.
This comes after BJP chief Chandrakant Patil yesterday, indicated that the Bharatiya Janata party will not stake claim to form the government in the state.
At a press conference yesterday, Patil said, "We had got a very good mandate (BJP-Sena and other smaller parties) which is why the Governor had invited us to form the government. However the Sena has not supported us in forming the government, since the mandate is for the alliance government is to be in power. We will not disregard it."
Patil added, "If the Shiv Sena wants to insult the mandate given by the people and form a government with the Congress and NCP then our best wishes to them."
Today, Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge will hold a meeting with senior party leaders on the situation in Maharashtra. "There's a meeting at 10 am today. We will proceed according to instruction from high command. But our original decision and decision of the people is that we should sit in opposition, that is the present position."
