The day that started on a disastrous note for the visitors, saw a India fightback with Pujara stitching key partnerships with Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin in the 87.5 overs of quality Test cricket.
Earlier in the day, the Indian top order was blown away in no time and the visitors were reeling at 41/4 at one stage. After that, Pujara found an ally in Rohit and together they forged a crucial 45-run stand. For the Aussies, their pacers Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins were stupendous with their efforts as they brought the visiting team on the mat. All three picked up a couple of wickets apiece and Nathan Lyon also contributed to the cause by hunting down the dangerous looking Rohit and Rishabh Pant.
