Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma became the most successful opening pair against Australia in ODIs, during the 14th match of World Cup 2019 between India and Australia. Dhawan and Rohit went past West Indies pair of Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes.
The Indian duo took seven fewer innings to cross the tally of 1152 runs set by the West Indies stalwarts.
During the Oval ODI, Rohit and Dhawan also recorded the highest opening stand for India against Australia in World Cup history when they surpassed 76, which was made by the same pair at the SCG in 2015.
