Travis Head was the next man to fall with Archer knocking off his middle stump. Matthew Wade has held on with Smith, who has looked largely untroubled by any of the England bowlers, including Broad who has been consistent with his lines until he was finally dismissed for 82 by Jack Leach.
Archer then got his revenge by sending back Wade for 34.
Earlier Archer, was yet again Australia's target when he came to the crease with a bat in hand. Wade, one of three who took a hit on the helmet at Lord's just couldn't stop himself. Wade's banter was caught on stump mic.
"Hit him in the helmet here, Hoffy," Wade advised Hazlewood. "Then ask if it is legbyes or runs, make sure it doesn't go to your tally," continued Wade.
He even made an attempt to start a Big Bash League transfer rumour.
"Painey (Tim Paine), did Heady (Travis Head) tell you Jof (Archer) was saying he's going to the (Adelaide) Strikers next year?."
"That's what Heady was saying. Very loyal."
"Think if we talk about stuff like that, like what Jof was doing, then he can't go the media?"
"Otherwise they have to print that. If we just talk about what's he doing, just say stuff that he doesn't want to come out then we should be fine."
