Bopanna and Divij did well to come back after losing the opening set, but eventually lost the 1-6, 6-4, 5-7.
Paes, who was playing his 24th Australian Open, went down in straight sets with his partner Reyes-Varela. The veteran and his partner lost 5-7, 6-7 (4) to the US-Kiwi duo of Austin Krajicek and Artem Sitak.
