Actor and UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador Dia Mirza is surprised at the country's cricket board - the BCCI for holding a T20 match in Delhi even when the quality of air in the city has slipped to the 'severe' category.
Dia Mirza, who is known to call a spade a spade, took to social media today to bat for clean air and condemned the decision to go ahead with the T20.
Dia tweeted, 'It is baffling that the BCCI has decided to go ahead with the T20 match despite the AQI's severe 412! This complete denial of the hazards of exposing ourselves to pollution is what cripples our ability to seek and implement swift solutions."
The national capital's air quality has deteriorated following the annual crop burning in neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana. Fire crackers during Diwali has only added to the severity.
The first T20 of the three-match series between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium on November 3.
