Every team has a Terminator

After playing five games in nine days, it was a nice little break that we had before the all-important tie against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The highlight of the break was the party organised by our team-owners, GMR, and the get-together that followed. It was a good thing for us, given that all of us gelled together before the important game at Bangalore.

Speaking of breaks, personally, I love playing golf in my free time and listening to some Sri Lankan music. While the schedule has not permitted me to get going with my golf, the music helps me to de-stress after a game, and is a favourite companion. I must say that it is fun listening to the Hindi music in the stadium as well!

IPL gets bigger but is it better?

Talking of the cricket, amongst the other teams in the competition, Bangalore is definitely doing well, having won four games in a row. But apart from that, with one-third of the tournament completed, it is still very difficult to choose between the sides for the favourites tag. A win here, a loss there, and all of a sudden, the points table could bear a very different look altogether.

From a Sri Lankan point of view, it is good to see the bowlers do so well. Chaminda Vaas is a fighter to the core and he has again proved that, while Murali’s class can never be doubted. He did have an off day or two during the Test series against India, but trust him to make such a strong comeback in this tournament. Angelo Mathews is a young all-rounder who can only get better from here; all of which augurs well for the Sri Lankan set-up in the ICC World T20 that happens in West Indies.

Greg Shipperd is back in India to take over the reins of the side. He has been with the team for the last couple of years, and it augurs well for the team to have him back, especially given that he understands all the players very well. From the perspective of today's game, we all know the kind of form that Jacques Kallis is in.

While the form of Kallis has been something to talk about, every team has one or the other player who has been ensuring his team’s success. There is Veeru for us, Hayden for Chennai, Sachin for Mumbai, but in the end, it requires just one good delivery to dismiss the batsman and we will be backing our bowling line-up to deliver the goods in today’s game.
