Team India fans have criticised the decision to select Sanju Samson who was included in a team as a replacement for regular opener Shikhar Dhawan, in the side over first-choice wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Samson failed to make his presence during the course of the T20I series, with the opener dismissed cheaply on Sunday in the fifth T20I of the five-match series between India and New Zealand as well.
Samson hit the full ball straight to Mitchell Santner, attempting to drill it hard without proper timing. The opener's dismissal gifted the Black Caps an early strike with Samson criticised for failing to yet again make amends for the numerous chances provided to him. Fans criticised the decision to select the opener over Pant, considering his inability to make chances of opportunities provided. They further expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision to not include the wicket-keeper batsman in any of the matches, despite the Indian team's triumph in the T20I series. Here are some of the reactions from the fans:
The Indian cricket team management kept Rishabh Pant in the end of 2019 when he was not in form at all, but dropped him when he gained his form and started hitting. This is bullshit.&mdash (@HR_BTS_ARMY) February 2, 2020
Feeling bad for Rishabh Pant :( #NZvIND— (@Jacksparrow9807) February 2, 2020

Rishabh Pant should have got a chance in today's match.
The Indian team is currently all set to post a total in excess of 180, following an excellent knock from Rohit Sharma.
