The U-19 World Cup is considered a major stepping stone in Indian cricket, with top performers in the tournament going on to represent the national team in the coming years. Performances during the course of the tournament are closely tracked, with the selectors keeping a close look out for potential superstars capable of making their presence felt. One of the biggest examples of this is none other than Team India skipper Virat Kohli, who led the U-19 side on to a triumph before going on to make a mark in the International circuit. However, there are also players who have failed to step up from the U-19 circuit, and deliver the goods for the national team. One such example is that of Unmukt Chand, who was considered the next Virat Kohli following his excellent display in the U-19 circuit. However, the player failed to maintain the same momentum with inconsistent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic cricket. Considering this, let us conduct an analysis on five U-19 stars who failed to graduate to the international level, which will certainly be of value for the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill and Nagarkoti.
