The first match of the 2019 India T20 League at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai was full of drama as the Challengers from Bangalore were skittled for 70 by hosts Chennai.
In the process, the Virat Kohli-led side also became the owners of some unwanted records.
Bangalore's score is their lowest against Chennai in the history of the league. Their previous lowest was 87, scored at Port Elizabeth during the 2009 edition.
Also, the score is the lowest in Chennai, surpassing the 95 for 9 scored by Kings XI Punjab against hosts in 2015.
This is also the sixth-lowest total in the league's history. Bangalore are also the holders of the lowest total in the tournament when they were bowled out for 49 by Kolkata at the Eden Gardens in 2017.
Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir took three wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja took a couple for Chennai when Challengers batted. The eight wickets taken by the spinners is the joint-most in the league.
In fact, Chennai have equalled their own record. Their spinners had taken eight wickets against Hyderabad in 2012.
