Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy was full of surprises during the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals IPL match on Saturday.

The Tamil Nadu spinner came into form once he managed to scalp Rishabh Pant. Riding on that confidence of getting the big fish, he removed dangerman Shimron Hetmeyer.

There was no stopping the tweaker as he bowled to Hetmyer. The big hitter holed out giving Varun his second wicket.

Chakravarthy's spell did not spare DC skipper Shreyas Iyer as well. As soon as Hetmyer was gone, Chakravarthy sent Iyer to the dugout as well.

Two in two for Varun, and that probably sealed the game for Kolkata.

After three wickets from two overs, Chakravarthy managed to dismiss Delhi's last hope in the big chase Marcus Stoinis. The in-form all-rounder, looking to go big down the ground, went after a loopy ball around off. But there was no timing and it ballooned over towards the long-off region. Chakravarthy's list went up to 4 wickets.

The last wicket was of Axar Patel, Chakravarthy's fifth! His 5/20 is the second best haul by a KKR bowler behind Sunil Narine's 5/19. What an evening he had. He was brilliant with the ball, changed the game around for Kolkata, and was awarded Man of the Match.
