Ahead of the javelin throw finals, Neeraj told Shivpal Singh that he wanted to do something different so that the nation remembers him. And that's exactly what he did! Neeraj Chopra managed four legit throws of 87.03m, 87.58m, 76.79m and 84.24 besides two foul throws in the javelin finals. Neeraj is only the second Indian to win an individual gold medal in Olympics after Abhinav Bindra won it in the 2008 Olympics.
Neeraj ended up defeating the likes of World No. 1 Johannes Vetter. Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch and Vitezslav Vesely clinched the silver and bronze medals. Jakub Vadlejch's best throw of 86.67m earned him the silver medal, while Vitezslav Vesely threw 85.44m and finished third.
