Rohit Sharma has become the highest run-scorer in T20 international cricket. The moment came during India's chase of 159 against the Kiwis in the second T20I at Eden Park in Auckland.
Before the match, Rohit trailed second-placed Shoaib Malik and the format's highest run-scorer Martin Guptill.
A boundary in the 8th over of the Indian innings took Rohit to 37 and past Guptill's record of 2272 runs. Rohit took 92 matches to achieve the milestone and celebrated the feat with a score of 50.
Rohit now has 2288 runs at an average of 33.15 and a strike rate of 138.49. The Indian opener has notched up four centuries and 16 half centuries in his T20I career so far.
During his knock at Eden Park, Rohit also joined Guptill and Chris Gayle in an elite club of international cricketers who have hit 100 sixes in their career. While Guptill and Gayle have so far smashed 103 sixes, Rohit is just one behind in the list with 102.
