Bangladesh cricketer Taijul Islam who featured as a substitute fielder on Day 2 of the historic D/N Test against India at Eden Gardens, Kolkata earned praise and appreciation from fans and critics alike, after completing a stunning catch to dismiss Team India skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli attempted to direct a delivery which was over pitched on the pads into the air, with the shot seeming set to reach the boundary ropes.
However, Taijul dived to the right after being initially positioned at the square-ish long leg to complete the catch out of thin air. This athletic intervention was greeted with cheers of joy from his team-mates and a look of anguish from Kohli who seemed set on the crease, after having scored 136 runs during the course of the innings.
This was further accompanied by a send-off from Ebadat Hossain, the bowler who bit adieu to the Indian skipper with a mock-salute.
Here is how the fans reacted to the catch:
Team India are in the driver's seat at the time of filing the report having reduced Bangladesh to a score of 45/4 in 10 overs in the second innings of the D/N Test.
